DON'T TURN BACK

There are some people in this world
They want to bring us down
And there’s some trouble in this world
That we cannot turn round
Say what you say about it
Or doubt the love we found

But don’t turn back
If you turn back you turn away
Hear me say
If you turn back you turn away

There are so many kinds of fools
And lies they tell about us
They’d like to tell us that we’re through
And swear it never was
Say what you say about me
But don’t you doubt my love

But don’t turn back
If you turn back you turn away
Hear me say
If you turn back you turn away

Say what you say about us
But don’t you doubt our love

But don’t turn back
If you turn back you turn away
Hear me say
If you turn back you turn away

MY SOMEDAY

Before I make it home
Traveling on a road
Before the rising moon explodes
Before that shooting star
Could tell me where you are
Or tell me where you go

And just before the dreaming
Before I close my eyes, my
Someday
My someday
My someday will shine

My mind is driving slow
I really want to know
The how we got so high then low
And though I've come this far
A windshield falling star
Won't tell me where to go

I'm just before the dreaming
Before I close my eyes, my
Someday
My someday
My someday will shine
Someday
My someday
My someday this time

If your kitchen's cold and dark
And no light where you are
Well you can watch the morning star
The same way as before
The key unlocks the door
Someday there you are

It was just before the morning
You opened up my eyes, my
Someday
My someday
My someday will shine

YEARS

Lost my spirit and the friends
who came to see me
Lost a good song when the spirit left me here
And I can’t imagine what went right
The voice that was calling me near
“You’ve been lost for years and years.”

Take no questions, talk to no one
when the night falls
Shut your eyes out, and you pray, day appears
And I can’t imagine what went right
And who made the night disappear
“You’ve been lost for years and years.”

In the midnight hour a spirit came softly
Crossed our music for a while
And we would smile

I’ve been waiting for a long time just to tell you
I’m a new song
May this new song
Ring so clear, clear, clear
And I dare not wonder what goes right
The spirit can bring us here
I’ve been lost for years and years
You’ve been lost for years and years
We’ve been lost for years and years
We’ve been lost
"Hey what did you learn in the midnight hour?
A little bit of love is the brand new flower."

FLOWERS and TREES

I took your picture when I left
I held it by my heart
I held it closer when I fell
A sacred work of art
I held your image in my mind
And I could hardly tell
When I was better heart and soul
We'd find each other well

The blooming of flowers and trees
But what of the days you're far from me
Hope they never come

When you've been low it's natural
To see the deeper side
I see the colors in this world
I see your brightest eyes
I hold this camera like a snare
To pull you to my side
Now I'm better heart and soul
Let's watch the evening rise
CHORUS

I'm sorting out our pictures here
Like paper memories
I'm sorting out our moments here
Against the falling leaves
I'm sorry for the empty days
Before I held you near
I can't be sorry anymore
The picture came so clear

The blooming of flowers and trees
But what of the days you're far from me
Hope they never come

MARY ANNE

You know I'm not made of stone
But I'm not of those who looks around
Keep both my feet on solid ground
But I’ve been bit tonight
Burned by the fire that's lighting up your eyes
Making me feel like I’m just made of ice

Now I'm waiting right here for you
Mary Anne
Waiting right here for you
Mary Anne
Just wanna be with you
Mary Anne

Lipstick and powder
A flower in your hair to keep you free
A diamond in your nose and you're complete
Would you like to go out dancing?
Would you like to just go walking down the street?
I got no use for other girls I meet
CHORUS

PEACE SIGN

I was siting up deep in my room
Deep in my heart
Deep in my gloom (hoping soon)
I was coming up short on feeling
Stared at the ceiling
For something to believe in
From the time that I dropped the needle down
And I heard that cool - blue - sound

Peace Sign
You're mine
I loved your song
We went along
Peace Sign
You're mine
You wrote my song

I was sitting on the edge of my bed
Edge of my feelings
Hole in my head
I was grasping at a space in time
Hand to my heart
Hole in my mind
From the time that I dropped the needle down
And I heard that hot - true - sound

Peace Sign
You're mine
I loved your song
We went along
Peace Sign
You're mine
You're my song

Now I'm far from those day-glow days
I'm wide awake
But dark in the same place (In a different way)
I'm still dreaming when I think of you
Chords won't move
What would you do?  (& I'm coming though)
From the time that I dropped the needle down
And I heard that sky - blue - sound

Peace Sign
You're mine
I loved your song
We went along
Peace Sign
You're mine
You wrote my song
And you were gone

WATERLOO EVENING

Julie waived her ticket
She tried to flag me down
She was clear across the station
I was near the lost and found
She called through swarms of people
To turn my head around
And her words were broken pieces
Scattered underground

Then we turned right
Over the city lights
Into the cool blue night
Straight out of paradise

Never good with good intentions
Moved quickly through the crowd
With my dizzy desperation
My head up in the clouds
When I heard her near the city
Slowly stopped to turn around
And her voice broke into diamonds
Sparkled words that cut me down
CHORUS

Cool blue diamonds in the sky
Cool blue diamonds - hey
Better find our way

When we crossed the flowing river
Holding safe to higher ground
A stranger from his window
Took his pen to write us down
And he found the perfect melody
He gazed back into town
As the sun set on our Waterloo
We never turned around

Then we went high
Over the city lights
Into the cool blue night
Straight out of paradise

(Cool blue diamonds in the sky)
Waterloo evening
Waterloo night
(Into the light)

EVERYBODY IN

I watched A Night To Remember
Sank like the Titanic in a sofa sea
Anything to leave you behind
Anything to ease my mind

Sometimes our lives have been scripted
Shipped out by committee with no heart for the scene
Anything to move it along
Anything but not too strong

Everybody Everybody in this time

Setting free can't be easy
Casting out a rope into eternity
Anything to pull you near
Anywhere is better than here

Everybody Everybody in this time

Holding hands at the bracing
Will you hit the water with your eyes on me?
Anything beyond the pale
Water coming over the rail

There went a night to remember
Reached to turn the light back on reality
You don't have a place for me
I shouldn't watch so much TV

Everybody Everybody in this time

ISLAND OF LOST SOULS

The size of the sun
The time we've been given
A handful of sand
When our lives touched the shore
Gone were the bells
Only smoke from the mission
Off in the distance
The lamb and the lion
The soft birds are crying
We're only an island of souls, lost souls

Clearing the vines
The low lying branches
Into the heart and can't be consoled
Gone was the feeling
That went with the flowers
Off in the distance
The calls and the pleading
The broken and bleeding
Deep in an island of souls, lost souls

Why would we come here
Sure as the morning
Turning our hearts from what we've been told
Gone were the senses
Despite all the warnings
Down in the distance
The sound of our laughter
In love ever after
Deep in our island of souls, lost souls

BLUE RIDE HOME

Comes a night to ride without you
Making time to find you near the train
Station lights burn yellow
Yellow marigolds lay soaking in the rain, blue rain
The steam that holds my memories
Is rising to the lights and calls your name
I saw a ...
Clear star, you are, higher than I cared to go
You've come and gone again
I took a hard right, tonight, higher than you'll ever know
Taking a blue ride, a blue ride home

Said in time your memory fades
Washes out like hours in the rain,
And yellow burn the station lights
Marigolds lay soaking in the rain, blue rain
The darkest hour's the wordless hour
You're standing there and words get in the way
CHORUS

Picture late, an empty station
Headlights staring straight into the rain,
And I turned on my radio
The car is filled with marigolds, and rain, blue rain
And time is just a wave of flowers
Flowers waving, flowers waving
There goes a...
Cold star, you are, higher than I cared to go
Come and gone again
I took a hard right, moonlight, higher than you'll ever know
Taking a blue ride, taking a blue ride home

PSYCHEDELIA

She's a cloud whispered loud
In a gingham dress and shroud
She's a bell, in heaven's swell
In those yellow days I fell for
Psychedelia

When she  walked like a child
Past the grasses green and wild
Past the colors of my days
When I wished it all away---
Psychedelia

She's a name carved in wood
For a hundred years she stood
Search through time for Cupid's bow
Through the wind and through the snow
Psychedelia

PSYCHEDELIA

I let the cold light shine me through
Let my eyes obscure my view
Lost the music lost the tune
Fell from cloudland when I lost you
Psychedelia

PSYCHEDELIA

She's a cloud whispered loud
From the forest to the crowd
In my mind the faintest bell
Oh the golden days I fell for
Psychedelia

If I held you in my arms
Could I pull us both from harm?
Wear it well my sleeper cell
They say only time will tell
Psychedelia

PSYCHEDELIA
